In a world in transition, the Enterprise Think Tank appoints experienced diplomat as new CEO
The global order is changing rapidly. New geopolitical realities are emerging at high speed and are increasingly affecting Danish competitiveness and companies nationwide. Understanding how global instability impacts Danish business, both in the short and long term, requires particular insight.
This is why the Enterprise Think Tank has appointed senior diplomat Maria Nilaus Tarp as its new CEO.
Chairman of the Board, Christian Frigast, states:
"There are few Danish business leaders who wake up today without worrying about how global events will affect their company. the Enterprise Think Tank must be able to analyse these developments and translate them into concrete action. With Maria Nilaus Tarp, the think tank gains an experienced and visionary leader with international perspective and a strong network."
Maria has spent most of her career in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including several leadership roles and postings in Kabul, New York, and as Ambassador to Lisbon. She has served as International Director in the Ministry of Climate and Energy, Head of Invest in Denmark, Communications Director, and most recently Head of the Ministerial and Executive Secretariat at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
"I look forward to taking up the role as CEO of the Enterprise Think Tank at this critical moment for Danish business. The red thread throughout my career has been analysing the shifting global agenda and understanding how it affects the Danish economy, security, advocacy efforts, and Danish companies," says Maria Nilaus Tarp.
With the appointment of Maria Nilaus Tarp, the Enterprise Think Tank will strengthen its international partnerships and geo-economic analytical capacity, while maintaining a strong focus on Danish competitiveness, the structural conditions shaping Danish business, and the green transition.
"Denmark and Europe are facing decisive strategic choices in order to maintain competitiveness and relevance. Today, any supply chain can potentially be used as a pressure point. We must treat raw materials, critical infrastructure, and dependencies in the same way we treat our defence: prevent, diversify risk, invest, and cooperate across the Nordic region, Europe, and globally - all within an unpredictable geopolitical reality. I look forward to translating analysis into clear recommendations for the industry," Maria continues.
"In addition to our current activities, we will going forward have a clear focus on how supply chains, critical technologies, dependencies, and vulnerabilities affect Danish and Nordic competitiveness," Chairman Christian Frigast concludes.
Maria Nilaus Tarp will step into the role on 5 January, taking over from Finn Lauritzen, who has served as interim CEO for the past six months and will now return to his role as Chief Economist.
The Enterprise Think Tank is a forum for businesses, public authorities, politicians, researchers and other key partners from across the public and private sectors. Founded in 2011 (under the name Axcelfuture) by a broad coalition of business leaders, its purpose is to promote a healthy investment climate in Denmark - to the benefit of the Danish business sector.
